Convincing People

November 16, 2007

I’ve been reading the new Mel Bochner retrospective/book, and it’s pretty great, and doesn’t cheat on his early stuff, which can be hit-and-miss but when it hits it’s bullseye.  I also like the multivalency of Bochner’s use of text: part of the point is that, as Bochner writes in several of his pieces, “language is not transparent.”

The words here are courtesy of the title of an old Throbbing Gristle song.
