Grids, endgames, etc.

September 25, 2011

Low ebb right now in terms of producing new work after two runs this summer with the pop songs lyrics and the color grid stuff.  So I sort of feel painted into a corner by only working with colored paper and almost want to go out into the world and photograph a thing or a person.  The mountains-moved that requires though is enough to keep me relatively dormant for now while I stare at my stacks of paper and my cut out text and ponder.  Two new images from today, different in that it’s sixteen rather than four pieces of paper but same basic idea.  The orange one is orange only because orange is my favorite color.  Still in dialogue with abstract painting, here, but unsure how to proceed next: new materials?  Incorporating some actual drawing or painting?  Suggestions welcome.
